Communities

We Support Communities

  • We are supporting the development of the abundant untapped talent in disadvantaged South African communities through contributing towards trusted, recognized and registered charities and foundations and via our own direct initiatives.

  • The charities we support fall in line with the National Development Plan Pillar of training, development and education. Our focus will be on supporting causes around early childhood growth, education and skills development.

  • Short-term we will donate part of the placement fee to a charity of the clients choice.

  • Long-term we aim to contribute to education and skills development in South Africa, investing in candidates of the future and under privileged communities.

Our Mission

"Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world."

Katherine Abbot

Katherine recently completed an MBA at the University of Oxford, a dream of hers that was years in the making. She started her career in the township of Alexandra, where she founded and ran a skills development initiative. Africa Works created millions of Rands of income into the community and provided a safe space that allowed people who were unemployed to earn an income.

From there, she was asked to join Forgood: a tech business that connects people who want to make a difference to charities across South Africa that need their help.

As Director, Katherine drove the sales and implementation of corporate social investment strategies into brands such as AB InBev, Anglo American, Discovery, Deloitte, Tiger Brands, MassMart (Walmart) and Vodacom. At Forgood she focused on an interest of hers, using innovation to tackle social challenges - from working with Uber to redistribute donations to creating a council enabling cross brand collaboration for social impact.

Katherine is a fellow of the inaugural Young African Leadership Initiative, an association of the Aspen Institute.
